How I configured internet connection for Mandrake Linux 8.1 using KPPP on KDE :

First launch the dialler Kppp with which the connection can be parameterised (Menu item Networking/Remote Access/Internet Dialer) :




Then on this screen click on ' setup '



... then click on ' New ' to create a new connection profile. Use PAP for authentification and put in your access telephone number (the same as for windows)



Then fill the 'IP' tab as follows :



Then fill in the 'Gateway' tab :



Then configure the 'DNS' tab :



Nothing to fill in for 'login script' tab :



Nothing to fill in for 'execute' tab :



Nothing to fill in for 'accounting' tab :



Click on OK to leave this screen. Go to the tab 'device' and select the correct port for the modem to be used::



Click on 'modem' tab to select the volume :



Nothing to do for the 'graph' tab - default settings OK :



Nothing to do for the 'misc' tab - default settings OK :



That's it !!!
You can launch a connection by clicking on 'Connect' first giving :
- the login ( from windows) in the box 'Login ID'
- the password (same as for windows) in the 'Password' box
